Tis the season of lurrrrrve ..... Howz about a Personalised Rockabilly Wedding Gift?
Well, hello Summer! ... the sun is shining and love is in the air ...
Many loved-up couples (wisely) choose the summer months to get married. We certainly did and luckily the UK sun shone down on us all day (good job too as we put everyone on a boat, before serving an alfresco barbecue on the riverside!).
Anyway, if, like us, you also prefer things a little alternative ... and a lot retro! ... wedding gifts can leave you somewhat ... ummm ... ewww ... really? Many wedding related gift ideas are pastel, floral, shiny, fluffy, cutesy ...which to some are fine, but for some of us ... well, let's just say we prefer fewer frills ....
When friends of ours got married and announced a Rockabilly themed wedding, we decided (after cheering, whooping and happy dancing) to come up with an alternative wedding gift, which would reflect their retro style while illustrating their love in a 'proper grown-up' way ... you know, without the fluffy teddy bears and confetti coloured hearts.
Inspired by traditional tattoo design, and mid century pop art, we came up with a scared heart design in bold, passionate colours, which we personalised with their names and then printed on a set of coasters for their new home together. A great way to celebrate their union while being practical to boot! hurrah! And you know how, these days, when couples have already been living together for some time .. and they've got 'everything' ... it can be hard to think of something they can actually put to good use ... well a set of gorgeous coasters will never go to waste.
They can be totally personalised ... you can have pretty much whatever you like on the scroll (as long as it fits!) ... the betrothed's names, a special date, or a place that means something special. These don't have to be wedding gifts, they can be great anniversary gifts (add the place you met!), or engagement gifts if the couple are moving in together.... or ... just because you're in love .... ahhhh
